Mining Lease acquired from Maharaja of Sukinda for a period of 20 yrs on 22nd Oct 1952

Same mining lease ratified by State Govt for 20 yrs on 12th Jan 1953.

Mining started at Sukinda in December 1960.

First mining lease renewed on 12th Jan 1973.
1984
In 1984 Sukinda Chromite mine was transformed into mechanized mining operations.
1990
In 1990, Chrome Ore Beneficiation plant was set up at Sukinda.
1991
Tata Steel took over Ferro Alloys Plant Bamnipal from Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) in 1991.

In 1991,Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) was installed to treat Hexavalent Chromium in Mine water.
1993
In 1993, Sukinda Ore Beneficiation Plant bagged an ISO 9001.
1994
Computerised Mine Planning was introduced in 1994.
1994
In 1994, Sukinda mine became the first mine in Asia to bag an ISO 9001 certification.
1996
In 1996, a second lease was renewed.
1999
In 1999, Sukinda became the first Chromite mine & Beneficiation plant in Asia to bag an ISO 14001 certification.

In 2004, Sukinda mine became the first fine in the world to bag an SA 8000 certificate.

In 2007, Tata Steel received the Patent for Herbal Treatment process to treat Hexavalent Chromium.

Acquisition of Ferro Alloys Plant of Rawmet Ferrous Industries on 14th Mar 2007.

Rechristened Rawmet Ferrous Industries to TS Alloys in 2010.

TS Alloys successfully bagged a 50 years merchant mining lease for Sukinda mines in Jajpur,Odisha on 18th Mar 2020.

In 2020, TS Alloys was renamed as Tata Steel Mining Tata Steel Limited.

On 30th Oct 2020, TSML made its 1st commercial Ore sale.
